Day one, 30 Paintings in 30 Days

This is the first of my 30 paintings is 30 days.

My theme will be Views From My Car.  This is Hudson Street in Peekskill, NY.  A cloudy day, I thought we might get another snow squall.  This is 6 inches square,  I'm really trying to paint quicker and not focus on details, use a bigger brush and more paint.

working on collages

I love the way the background came out on this collage.  It's 4"x4" my usual size for collages, on wood.  I coated with acrylic paint, mixing colors on the piece itself.  then made marks with a colored pencil, added rub ons and stamped tissue paper and resin paper.  The focal image is encased in ultra thick embossing crystals. then some were ripped to leave the exposed paper.  Finally all this is encased in self leveling tar gel that I tinted.  I love process - and I really like the results of this new process.  More to come.

Vintage Skelton Key Necklaces

I've been making these necklaces form my flea market finds and a few purchased items.  Fun to do and good to use the little doodads that we hate to throw out.  I though keys might been overused, but people still love them.  My friend just came back from Paris and said they are popular there also.
(I've also seen regular keys as a backing for embellished necklaces. Hmmm and idea for future projects.)

Vintage Skeleton Key Necklaces

The latest craze as you know are skeleton keys. I bought a few and wrapped then with embroidery floss and some metallic accents and a few new and vintage items.  Fun to do and more fun to wear.

Inchies in Glass

Works in progress, 1 inch collages that I'm encasing in glass that I will probably enclose in an altered book,  or encaustic piece.  My soldering needs help,  I'm going to try a different iron tomorrow.
Wish me luck.

Art Is You another good year

I spent the weekend at Art is You and received a well needed boost.  The classes were great and the fabulous give and take table never fails. I made this book and plan on getting back into bookbinding, it's so much fun.

HappyEaster - I just finished dying these eggs.  I don't have the patience for true Pysanky decorations, so I did some batik dying.  I love the Ukranian dyes - so much more full bodied.  Ok - that's it for now !!
